So I was able to get my hackintosh up and running. I'm not well-versed in EFI and all the technicalities, but I followed the steps outlined here: https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/gigabyte-z490-vision-d-thunderbolt-3-i5-10400-amd-rx-580.298642/
Now as for creating a backup of my system: I used Carbon Copy Cloner to create a bootable copy unto a 64GB USB drive, then used EFI Agent to mount and copy the contents of my SSD's EFI partition to that of the USB drive.
It boots up and works as it should, seemingly from the USB drive. Can even eject my SSD so it's not running from that OS install.
Am I missing something? Or is this how it's supposed to be? Could I reliably keep this USB drive as a suitable backup (assuming I keep it updated regularly?)
