So, I'll start with the problem... Not so much a problem, but a quark I was wondering if anyone else might have had with theirs.
Sleep works, but keyboard and mouse light back up randomly. Sometimes they go back out, and sometimes they don't. The machine behaves as it is sleeping and takes the same required effort to wake it up whether the keyboard lights are on or off. The lights on should tell me that sleep isn't working, and this didn't happen until I updated into Big Sur.
The machine is a 2014 Lenovo workstation with;
Haswell based Xeon E3-1246-V3 3.5GHz quad core
24 GB DDR3 1600 MHz RAM
Sapphire RX 570 4GB ITX
500GB SSD for OS and 1TB HDD for Storage
Spoofed as to present as a late 2103 Mac Pro 6,1 (Geekbenchs a little higher).
It's still in the Lenovo case but I am expecting a Thermaltake Versa H17 case today... Finally.
So I guess, the concern is related to a sleep issue that was not present in Catalina on this machine. Does anyone have any ideas on how I can resolve this? Is it SMBIOS related, because I should be using an iMac SMBIOS? Is it the CPU, Should I switch back to the equally fast i7 4770? What are your suggestions?
Thanks!
Read below for nonsense not related to the actual question.... Because that's what I do.
Keyboard, mouse, and monitor are all "gaming" and includes the 27" curved Samsung monitor, Corsair mouse, and Red Dragon keyboard... Will be upgrading to a Corsair keyboard soon, and the monitor recently came back from the dead after I replaced a chip that burnt out when I overclocked the monitor to 75 Hertz when on Windows (lol). Don't do that.
I don't game on this machine... Natively, but I rely on Shadow, which works flawlessly. I prefer Shadow over boot camped Windows because I can log into the same Windows machine on any of my Macs, and it's easier to just start Shadow, additionally, I can (Control + Arrow) back and forth from Windows desktop to Mac, if needed.
