USB-C to HDMI problems

Heya,

So around yesterday i bought one of those usb-c to hdmi female adapters, because i have a 27 inch screen and using a laptop hackintosh.

When i plugged it in the first time it worked but my laptops screen went black and i have to restart my hackbook every time if i want the laptop display working. That’s problem number one.

Problem number two is that i put my refresh rate up to 165hz even though the adapter only supports 60hz, so i don’t even know how to reset my display preferences...

Is there any solution for those two problems?
