Dell T7810 2680v4 RX570 Opencore Success Resolved

I spent 2 days banging my head on the wall, neglecting my family to get this working. I feel like I should write something up to contribute back to the community

I ran into many problems but the biggest hurdle was that my screen would go black during the verbose log (right before it goes to Installer)

Of the top of my head, these are the steps I tried:

  1. Look at the log file on my USB drive (this was what led me on a wild goose chase)
  2. Redo the process with different USB drive
  3. Compiled my own SSDT
  4. Removing NVME PCIE card
  5. Removing all USB devices leaving only keyboard and mouse
  6. Chased down "[EB|#LOG:EXITBS:START]" because its in the log file on my USB drive
  7. Chased down "GV wake-failure" because its in the log file on my USB drive

Then I realize the log file in USB might not contain all the errors. Thats when I record the verbose output on the screen. Thats when I realize the screen would go black around this event

"IOConsoleUsers: gIOScreenLock"

Googling it led me to a host of GPU issues. Something about hand off?

At the time, I only experimented with DisplayPort and HDMI port. I connected to the display with a special cable I have laying around: DVI to HDMI. This time, the screen goes pink instead of black. It kind of confirm some display issue. That Opencore did not crash.

I switched back to DisplayPort and the screen with the installer came on. I was able to continue the installation process and now I have a Macpro like PC for about $700. Im planning to spend another 300 to add another 14 cores to it

My config.plist just in case someone with similar specs want to compare. I use Opencore 0.6.3
