I cloned my drive to a larger one earlier today and confirmed it booted successfully while still in the USB reader before swapping out the internals. Cut to about 4 hours later and now neither drive boots. The original drive is a Samsung 970 Evo Plus 256GB and the new drive is a Samsung 970 Evo 1TB. I found out the hard way the Evo Plus drives have issues, but I haven't found any known issues with the regular Evo's as I've delved into this. The firmware is up to date on the new drive and no system settings were changed; I just unplugged one drive and plugged in the other.
After doing some more research, I ordered a Western Digital SN550 1TB and am sending the 970 Evo back. However, I still need to get my PC up and running and can't even boot into a Catalina installation USB to install on the new drive when it gets here.
I've tried updating Opencore and kexts with no luck. I knew the risks associated with making changes to an already unsupported system (moreso since I'm using Ryzen) but felt like I was in the clear since the drive booted in the USB reader.
