The machine in question have a working Catalina 10.15.7 on it already. However when I tried to boot the Big Sur installer, it refuses to boot and got stuck in the kernel phase. How to get past that?
Machine configuration:
- CPU: Intel Core i7-9700K
- Motherboard: Gigabyte Z390 UD
- GPU: Sapphire RX 580 Pulse 8GB
- Storage devices:
- Samsung 960 Pro 512GB NVMe SSD (fast tier in Fusion Drive)
- WD Black 2TB SATA desktop HHD (slow tier in Fusion Drive)
- Intel Optane M10 16GB NVMe SSD on adapter card (OpenCore bootloader only)
- Installation method: I have Big Sur installer on a Flash drive without another copy of OpenCore, while using the bootloader (and thus existing SSDT and kexts) from the existing system.
