My system specs:
- i9-9900 non-k
- Vega 64
- 16gb ddr4 3200mhz
- 500gb 970evo
- Opencore 0.6.3
Recently switched from clover to OpenCore and Mojave to Big Sur. The original kit of 16gb 3600mhz ram I had in the system would cause a KP during boot. I found out that I had to disable XMP to boot/install Big Sur on OpenCore.
I installed the 3200mhz kit listed above and was able to boot with the XMP profile applied. Monitoring intel PG during Cinebench runs, CPU would hit 4.5-4.6ghz for about 5 seconds, then down clocking to ~3.6ghz for the rest of the run. ASUS MCE should hold the higher frequency (4.6ghz in my case) as long as the temps are ok. MCE was working fine when I had Mojave/clover installed, So I was wondering if anyone else noticed something similar or if there's a setting in OpenCore that I missed.
