Hackintosh GPU's only support GPU that are onboard on iMacs to work?

Couple of thoughts I had. 1.) Does MacOS have to have the gpu natively supported like on board of a iMac to natively work? I guess I will toss this one, any thoughts on amd 6000 gpu on macOS?
