4K display native resolution only 1080?

Can anyone help me to enable retina display resolutions or real UI scaling when connecting a 4k TV? My display options show 1080P as default for display and I can select 4k in the scaling options. However, if I manually select a 4K res, all the UI is super small and unusable really. I am connected to a Sony 55” 4K TV from the 5600Xt gpu. I did find a sudo terminal command to enable HDPI resolutions but terminal fails with 'unknown command'

I have a fully working Opencore build btw.

Is there a way to edit the plist to force UI scaling?
