Hello all!
I'm currently working on hackintoshing my desktop and need some help with graphics. I started on High Sierra and just upgraded to Catalina through the mac App Store in hope that the upgrade would fix majority of my graphics issues but boy was I wrong.
In general - the graphics are stuttery and when opening apps (for example Chrome), it just completely freezes for a few seconds while loading the app. When moving windows, I can clearly see the window moving along line by line down the display. A cool effect, ngl, but not what I'm after. I want it to be as smooth as possible. I installed some WebDrivers from NVIDIA and a CUDA driver in High Sierra but they didn't really do anything.
The system in general is pretty slow but I assume the GPU has a pretty big role in that.
So the technical stuff:
My system contains an Intel Core i5 6600K, has 16GB of RAM on a MSI b150 Motherboard with a GeForce GTX 1050Ti GPU. (I know, I know, the GPU is only supported up to High Sierra. I'll reinstall)
The OS is installed on a 120gig partition split with Windows which is on the other half (250GB SSD)
While setting up the OpenCore install, I generated my own SSDT Files using this guide.
If it will help, you can find my config.plist here.
Please note that the WebDriver Installer I found on NVIDIA's website doesn't want to run because the version of High Sierra I had installed (17G66) isn't supported by the driver. I have since tried downloading a few other WebDriver packages from here, but I just got the same results. I ended up using a something called NVIDIA Update found on GitHub. That driver didn't do anything useful.
Any suggestions on how I can fix this would be greatly appreciated.
