kp when booting from efi on main drive after restore from CC

Hello all, hope you can help me with a problem I'm having with my hackintosh.

I attempted to upgrade from Mojave to Catalina last night which was unsuccessful and I was forced to wipe my main drive and restore from my CC backup drive.

After the restore the EFI partition on the main drive was empty so I copied the folder over from the backup drive.

On reboot the main drive was now showing as a boot option but when I boot from it and select my main OS X from the clover boot menu I get a kernel panic early on in boot up.

Something relating to vit9696.lilu I think. (I'll grab a screenshot on next boot)

The weird thing is, if I select my backup drive as the boot partition and then load OS X from my main drive from the clover boot menu it boots up just fine and I'm posting from it now.

Obviously both EFI partitions are identical so what's going on?

I've tried rebuilding the kext cache using hackintool which hasn't made a difference and made sure I have matching kexts in /Library/Extentions and in my Clover folder.

Any idea what else I can try?

Machine is Gigabyte Z390 AORUS ULTRA, i9 9900k, vega 64.
