BOOTX64 does not work from drive - Laptop

I've followed this guide on github to the letter to install Mojave on a Thinkpad T440p. Everything works great from USB and I can run the install, but after following post-install steps it refuses to boot from the local drive. I can only "boot from recovery" or the USB. The only time it managed to boot from the drive was during the install when it restarted a few times. I got some helpful info from tonymacx86 forums that explained that sometimes you have to manually add BOOTx64 as a bootable target from the UEFI Shell. After messing around a bit in the shell I managed to add it as a boot option (the one on drive, not USB); I thought this was the ticket. Sadly, even with the option to boot from this device, it still takes me back to Clover "boot from recovery. Very frustrating. Here's some screenshots to illustrate problem: https://imgur.com/a/UsDJkrT
