Having done a new Hackintosh install to-day, I reinstalled my crucial programs, added a more modern web browser then........ Started time machine and walked away. I can't stress too much how vital this is and I never see it as the final step in any guides. If you rely upon your machine at all , once you've established a good baseline use the included time machine utility and get a good backup .......you may never need it....... but it's a lot like a parachute, if you do need it, you need it really bad.
