This will be my first "from scratch" PC build, for 3D rendering, photography, gaming, and coding/development. This PC will dual boot Windows and Mac, with 5TB dedicated to each OS. All parts were chosen for max compatibility for macOS Catalina. I posted my original build a couple days ago, and took some suggestions; below is a breakdown of the parts:
CPU: Intel Core i9-10900K 3.7 GHz 10-Core Processor – Got a big discount on the i9 (50%), so why not?
CPU Cooler: Corsair H115i RGB PLATINUM 97 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler – Liquid cooling for max performance and sick RGB
Motherboard: ASRock Z490 Taichi ATX LGA1200 Motherboard – needed at least 4 SATA 6GB slots (this has 8), as well as two M2 Slots.. the M2s eat 2 SATA 6GB slots, so the motherboard ends up with 6 SATA slots for use. also really nice I/O & WIFI 5 + Bluetooth
Memory: (G.Skill Trident Z RGB 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR4-3600 CL17 Memory) x2 – current Mac has 32GB of RAM and struggles with some pro apps, 64 should be future-proofed for a bit
SSD M.2 (Boot Drive Mac & Windows): (Samsung 970 Evo Plus 1 TB M.2-2280 NVME Solid State Drive) x 2 – These 1TB M.2 drives will serve as the boot drives for macOS and Windows
RAID 0 Drives: (Samsung 860 Evo 2 TB 2.5" Solid State Drive) x 4 – This will be my main storage for both OS's; my system will have dual RAID 0 drives (2x 2TB each; i.e 2x 4TB RAID 0 drives) one array for Windows, and one for macOS
Video Card: Sapphire Radeon RX 5700 XT 8 GB NITRO+ SE Video Card – I was considering getting the Radeon VII but landed on this one, because of it's HDMI I/O, similar (sometimes faster) performance, and great gaming capabilities.
