Bluetooth device mouse missing from Bluetoothd.plist

I recently got a compatible wifi card, and wanted to use the same bluetooth mouse for Windows and macOS. I followed this guide: https://www.reddit.com/r/hackintosh/comments/dd4jjg/bluetooth_mouse_in_dual_boot/

However, when I put this line into the Terminal:

sudo defaults read /private/var/root/Library/Preferences/com.apple.Bluetoothd.plist LinkKeys

I get this:

}

despite my bluetooth mouse being connected. I'm pretty sure that the mouse is missing vs just the link key being missing, as none of those keys matched the MAC address I found for my mouse via Terminal. Any ideas?
