Initially, I tried installing Catalina(10.15.4) on the above system, but could never get it to install. I had trouble with the initial install because it would hang in the middle of the apple logo while loading the installer, then once it finally loaded neither of the ethernet interfaces would come up. Once i forced an interface to come up and got the first part of the OS installed, the second part would hang on the Country picker( you could scroll through the list of Countries but could not select continue).
After giving up on Catalina I tried installing Mojave, and had the exact opposite experience. It just installed and ran without any issues. I installed several programs, and they all ran fine, watched youtube videos without any problem. I'm very happy with the Mojave install.
Four days later I boot MacOS and it fails with the Prohibited symbol on the screen. Several reboots all withe the same results. I boot with the installer USB, run disk utility to check the disk and it comes up clean. I reinstalled via TimeMachine and everything is working again.
I guess time will tell whether or not this disk failure will be a recurring theme.
One odd thing I've noticed is that my boot device list in my UEFI BIOS/Firmware keeps growing. Everytime I reboot, a new copy of partition 1 of the MacOS disk is added to the boot device list.
Any comments or advice are welcome. Thank you.
