This is a follow-up to my post from 18 days ago, where I was asking for comments on the list of parts I had bought for my first Hackintosh build. The Fenvi T919 card took a while to arrive and then had issues with a defective PSU, so I only managed to complete the build two days ago. I am happy to report that everything seems to work!

List of parts used:

  • Gigabyte Z390 Aorus Pro
  • Intel Core i7-9700
  • Cooler Master Hyper 212
  • Crucial Ballistic Sport LT 32GB
  • Samsung 970 EVO 1TB M.2
  • Corsair Carbide Series 678C
  • Fenvi T919

Guides used:

I tried at first to just use the OpenCore Desktop Guide but I couldn't get the machine to boot properly. In hindsight, there were some very obvious mistakes that I made, partly because I had never done this and I was a total newbie, but also because some parts of the guide are a little confusing in my opinion.

After watching the YouTube video, my mistakes became very obvious and I was quickly able to get up and running. The YouTube video shows how to use OpenCore 0.5.7 but I was aware of the very minor differences with 0.5.8 thanks to reading the guide.

The machine has been running for about 24 hours and everything is working well, including Airdrop and Messages. I didn't test other features like Facetime and Sidecar because I don't really care about them, but I have no reason to suspect they won't be working. I tested Netflix and Apple TV+ since I had read reports that there might be issues with them, but everything plays with no issues.

I have disabled the iGPU since I don't need it at the moment, but I will go back later and re-enable it if needed.

Kexts used:

  • AppleALC.kext
  • IntelMausi.kext
  • Lilu.kext
  • WhateverGreen.kext
  • VirtualSMC.kext
  • SMCProcessor.kext
  • SMCSuperIO.kext

SSDTs:

  • SSDT-AWAC.aml
  • SSDT-EC-USBX.aml
  • SSDT-PLUG.aml
  • SSDT-PMC.aml

During my first attempt, I used SSDTTime to generate the SSDTs for my motherboard. Since I had no idea on why the system wasn't booting, I decided to start from scratch and follow the instructions on the YouTube video guide. I could probably optimize the boot-up process by going back and using the files generated by SSDTTime, but it isn't something I am hugely concerned about at the moment.

Drivers:

  • OpenRuntime.efi
  • HfsPlus.efi
