I had an old Alienware Alpha, and decided that I'll turn it into a hackintosh for my dad! Spec: CPU: Intel Core i3-4130T (Dual Core) RAM: 4GB RAM GPU: GTX 860M (I'll get to that later) Things that don't work: Wi-Fi (I use ethernet anyway) Bluetooth (Doesn't matter) FaceTime and iMessage (Also doesn't matter) Audio (I have no idea why, I'm working on it) I originally started this in January and tried to do the MacOS Catalina Web Recovery Install. It worked fine however because NVIDIA Web Drivers aren't a thing I could not get the GPU to correctly work, I gave up but yesterday I decided to try again with High Sierra. I'm super happy with how it turned out and that I now have my very own hackintosh! Sleep also work perfectly, which I'm pretty happy about. I was told that the 860M was not compatible for MacOS, it seems to work fine however I have no idea what the compromise was. The Alpha comes with a 5400RPM HDD, this means that boot times are about 3ish minutes, not the best, but MacOS is nice and snappy when booted. [link] [comments] |
