MSI 5700 XT Mech OC Issue Catalina 10.15.3 OC 0.5.8

I'm running into issues running Catalina with this GPU, here's my full hardware:

Gigabyte Z370 HD3-P

i7 8700k

MSI 5700 XT Mech OC

Fenvi t919 (wifi not working in mac os for some reason, bluetooth is. all works in windows)

first off, had to disable the dGPU on install as the installer kept failing. System worked totally fine with just iGPU. Once I enabled the dGPU, catalina slowed to a crawl, bluetooth took forever to come online, cant open programs, and various other weird behaviors. i have agdpmod=pikera in the boot args.

so far I've tried:

disabling igpu in bios

enabling igpu in BIOS and changing platform id to computing/no display out

deleting platform-id altogether

changing smBIOS from iMac19,1 to iMacPro1,1

I must be missing something really simple, it seems a lot of people have the 5700 xt working. Any ideas?

Edit: I did try installing 10.15.4 but had the same issues so i thought rolling back one version might help
