Tl,DR - Looking for someone with a lot of experience successfully building hackintoshes to help me get Catalina working on my machine.
I realize that I'm opening myself up to massive ridicule and criticism, which I'm willing to accept. I'm glad that this is a community of smart, passionate DIYers. The reality is that after having kids I just don't have time to spend hours scouring boards for the solutions to the problems that crop up. And I'd like to work directly with (and communicate directly with someone who knows what they're doing (and can help me trouble shoot).
I have some experience with running hackintoshes (using them since 2012, all tony mac stuff). I'm familiar with making edits using Clover Configurator, and can manage mounting EFIs and copying kexts.
I'd like to get running the latest version of Catalina running, 10.15.5, or if it's better 10.15.4
Here's my hardware:
- i9 9900k
- z390 Aorus Pro
- XFX RX 580 (which I understand might be an issue with Catalina - I'm running two displays using display port and DVI with it). It was working fine with Mojave, but if I new card is necessary then I'll make it happen.
- Would like headless iGPU working so that I can sidecar with my iPad
- 64GB (4x16gb of RAM) - Vengeance LPX 64GB DDR4 3200MHz CL16
- Samsung 860NVMe 500GB for OS (though I also have a 2TB Samsung 970 EVO plus for video work, I understand that there might need to be a firmware update for the 970)
- I have an 850 watt power supply
- I have an OEM equivalent wifi-bluetooth card which should work out of box - it was finicky with Mojave. Bluetooth worked well, but unlock with apple watch didn't work well - would be nice to have that working with Catalina.
- I'm running 6 hard drives using SoftRAID - I'm pretty sure I can handle getting the softraid to work with OSX, it usually just involves disabling scanning entries
- I have a fractal design R6 case with a USB-C port on the front that I need working.
- I want an SSDT for the motherboard so that all USB ports are working properly at full speed.
- I'd like the install to be as vanilla as possible so that I don't end up breaking it when updating (which is what happened when I tried updating to the most recent version of mojave).
If you're interested in helping me get things working send me a quote for how much you would charge. And if you also have a username on Tonymac send that along as well. I'd really appreciate working with someone who is extremely familiar with this and will be able to quickly troubleshoot things.
Thanks everyone!
