Hackintosh and DIY 5K monitor complete (z390 Aorus Pro Wifi ITX, 9700k, 5700XT, Catalina on OpenCore 0.5.7

Following previous post about the DIY 5k monitor, here is the complete setup.

Monitor is iMac panel and 5k control board from Aliexpress inside an iMac VESA mount shell. After some trouble getting 5k in MacOS with my Nvidia GTX 1080 in High Sierra, I swapped in a 5700 XT and now it works perfectly in Windows and MacOS in 5k, 10 bit colour with dual display port.

Hackintosh is the following:

Motherboard: Aorus Z390 I Pro Wifi (ITX)

CPU: 9700k

RAM: 3200MHz CL14 DDR4, 2x8GB

GPU: 5700XT (Sapphire Pulse) - ditched Nvidia to get 5k working on the monitor

Case: Streacom DA2

Wifi - Broadcom CS2 https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32820389065.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.641f4c4dxEEeCX

+ Antenna and pigtails (right name?) https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32795796188.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.641f4c4dxEEeCX

+ M.2 adapter to use rear slot (with USB connection to Bluetooth) https://www.aliexpress.com/item/33008569320.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.641f4c4dxEEeCX

Well done to u/Nobbylobo for showing me that winning combination.

I think this is the only current Wifi solution for this board, as you cannot just replace the Intel wifi card in the dedicated slot as it is locked to their own cards. I have routed the antenna cables round the back of the motherboard so I can use the original antenna mounts on the backplate for a clean look.

Dualboot Windows 10 and Catalina 10.15.4 using Opencore 0.5.7 with the GUI.

Other working from home peripherals such as Brunner joystick, Warthog throttle and MFG Crosswind pedals.

Desk/frame is the Monstertech Simrig from Germany with optional monitor support.

Everything seems to work well out of the box. I followed the excellent vanilla guide for OpenCore and it booted and installed first time. Don't have too much to add - needed to do the framebuffer patching to get a displayport output from the iGPU. Only HDMI worked by default. Didn't need the AWAC SSDT for this one.

I have been round the houses on with the Webdrivers on High Sierra 10.13.6 and the GTX 1080.

Thanks to all for the great info in this subreddit. My experience was painless thanks to that and following the guide carefully.

Happy to answer questions.

PS Sincere apologies for forgetting to close the bracket in the post title...
