I'm making this post to start a conversation more than to look for help, though tips are welcome. Has anyone done an LG gram install that is 100% usable. It is a great laptop and would be a very cool MacBook alternative. I have a fairly usable Mojave install on my 15" gram. I am dual booting Windows and macOS. The laptop is a 15z980. 8th gen i7, I do not remember the "name" of the processor (kabylake, etc.).
What fully works:
- Keyboard
- Graphics
- Battery info
- Audio; speakers, mic, jack
- Sleep
- Keyboard backlight
- Most stuff
What partially works:
- USB. Works fine for most things, but does not provide power (e.g. I cannot sync my old iPod Classic because it complains about not having enough power).
- Trackpad. Perhaps took me longer to figure out than the whole OS install. I eventually found a file on the voodooi2c gitter that works, but it is not smooth. There is a delay between when you start using the trackpad and when it realizes you are doing something. Multitouch gestures work, though.
- Brightness control. Actually it works fine, but I the keyboard buttons don't.
What does not work:
- Wifi/BT - I know that I would need to replace the card. If I can get the trackpad ironed out, I will probably actually get around to doing it.
- Touchscreen. I'm fine with it not working, but it would be cool if it did.
