Dell OptiPlex 7020/9020 OpenCore Catalina. An almost guide and some ramblings

The past 7 days were awesome and sometimes frustrating but rewarding in the end. I've spend them optimising and tuning my first successful build posted here at beginning of the week. Since then I've learnt so many new things in my journey to see how far I would get running macOS on an OptiPlex 7020. I'm stunned by the amount of knowledge and very well written software available for free.

Writing this kind of software requires a lot more knowledge than your average programmer. Doing hardware level coding is a skill/art form someone could get paid a lot of money for. Yet these talented coders choose to write the software that allows us to run an almost vanilla macOS. Where it injects everything thats needed before the macOS kernel even loads and not modify anything on the system itself. Very cool stuff. Rootkit like.

Then there's the people who are writing the vanilla guides, what a treasure-trove of information. And very rewarding if you're willing to spend as much time reading it as they spend on writing it. Without the guides I would still be staring at a kernel panic or waiting for root device message. Thank you for your time and hard work.

Learned a lot about ACPI and BIOS, and how to extract it, modify it, fix it. I'd never guessed to learn so much. I've kept track of my "progress" on Github because its nice and also because its free hehe. Written in a guide style mainly for my own records but I think it could help others on their way as well.

There will be mistakes and maybe not everything is as vanilla as it could be, but I did my best and am very open for any improvements.

tl;dr
My Github page can be found here.

Thanks for listening reading.
