I use it all to play ncurses solitaire!

All the usual bells and whistles seem to be working.

I haven’t tested FileVault or the DRM stuff at length because that’s not what I use my system for. FWIW I was able to play a few random trailers from AppleTV without issue if that means anything…

I borrowed an OpenCore EFI folder for a similar ROG z390 board from a GitHub repo for reference (sorry, can’t remember which one off-hand), but I really built it all from the Vanilla Guide and by bouncing it off of the config.plist sanity checker (https://opencore.slowgeek.com/)

Really, I’m currently using it as my daily driver and for some music production via Logic Pro X, etc.

I also run VMWare Fusion a fair bit so my BIOS has all the virtual machine settings enabled.

I’ve been running some sort of Hackintosh since I wanna say Snow Leopard, however I’m really more of a follower and not a hard-core coder. (Thanks to those who are!!)

Prior to the Asus board which I just set up this past weekend, I was running Catalina on a Gigabyte z390 Ultra. The Ultra ‘worked’, but there seemed to be too many little niggly things to fart around with to get it to where I thought it should be. The thing I had the most trouble with was UI lag after waking from a bit of a snooze. So far I haven’t seen that issue with the Asus. I guess that and the fact the Asus board has a working NVRAM OOB made me switch. It’s the first non-Gigabyte board I’ve used in many, many years (prolly 8 or 9).

Before you ask, no, I’m not sharing my EFI because it’s truly pointless. You’re going to have to change everything to suit your system anyway. No, really! I'm not just being a knob, because I’ve tried looking everywhere for a drag and drop solution and I just got myself into more of a mess trying to fix the mistakes of others! Start clean, my friends!

There are a few other decent guides out there if the ‘official’ vanilla guide isn’t to your liking.

BTW I don’t have a pristine shot of my work area because it doesn’t exist. I live at my desk and do actual work here so I’ve got crap all over it… :D
