I have successfully installed MacOS on my Ryzen 3900x based build following the AMD Vanilla Guide. No other problems so far.
I am using a FireWire expansion card to connect a Focusrite Saffire Pro 14 audio interface. With normal system audio (YouTube, Spotify, Quick Look), playback is fine. However, when playing back in pro audio apps with the Saffire device specifically selected, playback is either extremely choppy or completely locks up. Tested in Dorico, Sibelius, and Ableton — all same result. I tried using a Scarlett Solo plugged into my PC front panel and received the same result. HOWEVER, using an AudioQuest Dragonfly Black plugged into the front panel completely fixes the issue.
I am stumped. I have tried restarting, reinstalling drivers, reinstalling applications, changing sample rates, and changing buffer sizes. Nothing seems to help. Is there a kext I missed that is required for FireWire compatibility with AMD? Thanks for any help.
