t440p sleep issue after bios mod to remove whitelist

everything is running very well.. except sleep after performing a bios mod to remove white list so i can use a broadcom card.

any time the laptop goes to sleep (not on power, etc.) or the lid is shut, it goes to sleep and won't wake up. have to hold down power button.

any suggestions on what to check/change, etc.?
