Does Clover config, patches, drivers and kexts used during install matter, or can be fixed in post?

I'm curious if it makes any impact on OS performance or stability, or may render future post install config undoable, whether I use all proper configs and patches (battery/gpio for example), during install, or I can just use any configuration that will let me boot to installer and install os successfully?
