Took 2 nights to finish using the McDonnell Guide. I have W10 installed on my M2 SSD and purchased a cheap Kingston SSD for OSX.
I had to update my old BIOS before flashing it with the custom BIOS. The BIOS upgrade didn't work on W10 so I installed Windows 7 on the new SSD and updated/flashed it there.
I don't have any Macs at home so I created an OSX vm using vmware workstation to create my High Sierra USB installer. I ran into a problem downloading the entire OS from the App Store (Step 3 on the guide). It only downloaded a 20 MB mini version. I used dosdude's High Sierra Patcher to download a clean copy.
It was smooth sailing after that, the post install guide helped with the little stuff (brightness, night shift etc). High Sierra is pretty smooth and snappy. Its perfect for my use case (development and porn).
It feels amazing to have OSX without any Mac hardware. Thanks to everyone here, without this sub I wouldn't have had the courage to try this!
