I just completed my build as follows:
- ASRock Z390 Phantom Gaming-ITX/AC
- I9-9700k
- 16GB ram
- 1TB WD Black M2
- Fractal mITX case
- Noctua NH-L12S 70mm Low-Profile CPU Cooler
- MSI VGA Graphic Cards RX 580
This took me 4 days working on and off with the project. My main hurdles:
- Only a few of my USB would format correctly on the mac and have an EFI boot image, thus seen by the ASRock.
- I followed the guide https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/success-asrock-z390-phantom-gaming-itx-tb3-igpu-mojave-sff-build.277418/ guide. If I used all the files provide, my system would hang on the apple logo screen.
- Ran into the ACPI failure, and had to use the ACPI patch to config.plist to get the USB to boot.
So, instead of coping all the files over to the macOS boot SSD, I followed this guide to create the USB boot disk: https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/success-gigabyte-designare-z390-thunderbolt-3-i7-9700k-amd-rx-580.267551/, then copied the EFI files from the USB drive to my m2, then it finally booted from the m2.
Next, I SLOWLY worked on getting things to work using the files outlined in https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/success-asrock-z390-phantom-gaming-itx-tb3-igpu-mojave-sff-build.277418/ . So far I have wifi, BlueTooth, and audio working. I have not tested the TB3 port yet (not ready to go down that rabbit hole just yet). I have ICloud working, but Messanger and Facetime are not. I'm working on this issue now (any advice would be helpful).
While a bit frustrating, I'm very pleased with the results!!
