I'm sure anyone serious about audio probably never upgraded to Success' href='/2020/12/install-macos-catalina-on-supported-pc.html'>Catalina anyway. However for those like me who make music as a hobby (and as such is one of the main reasons I choose to use macOS), I tried to upgrade from Success' href='/2020/12/install-macos-mojave-on-supported-pc.html'>Mojave.
I upgraded to Success' href='/2020/12/install-macos-catalina-on-supported-pc.html'>Catalina knowing that 32bit support would break. This was fine because only one AU I had was 32bit, and it was replaceable. Success' href='/2020/12/install-macos-catalina-on-supported-pc.html'>Catalina itself I think is great - the PDF rendering is a whole lot better and this matters for me as that is what I spend most of my work-time with. I was also planning to buy a 5700XT in the next couple of weeks.
HOWEVER - I found my USB MIDI controllers were not recognised at all (Roland, MAUDIO). Because they are older, it looks like driver support is non-existent, and for me as a hobby it would cost too much to have to upgrade all my hardware, so unfortunately I had to clean install Success' href='/2020/12/install-macos-mojave-on-supported-pc.html'>Mojave and restore from Time Machine.
The annoying thing about this situation is that I would like to use Success' href='/2020/12/install-macos-catalina-on-supported-pc.html'>Catalina for graphics support, but I am essentially stuck on Success' href='/2020/12/install-macos-mojave-on-supported-pc.html'>Mojave until I can plan out and afford an upgrade path for my audio stuff, or unless hardware vendors decide to write Success' href='/2020/12/install-macos-catalina-on-supported-pc.html'>Catalina drivers for their legacy products (am not holding my breath).
Basically, just be aware that for people using older gear, Success' href='/2020/12/install-macos-catalina-on-supported-pc.html'>Catalina may break it.
