ASRock Creator Delivers Thunderbolt 3 for X570 Components https://i.redd.it/a4jxhglmm7t31.jpg Motherboard: ASRock X570 Creator Motherboard with Thunderbolt 3 and 10Gbit CPU: AMD Ryzen 3400G Fan: Noctua NH-D15 CPU Fan Video Card: ATI Radeon RX 570 4GB Memory: G.SKILL Trident Z Neo 2X16 GB DDR4 3600 Monitor: LG Ultrafine 5K running at 5K via Thunderbolt 3. Case: Phanteks P600S White ATX Mid Tower Computer Case Comments Dual DisplayPort 1.2 connections from Radeon RX 570 to external DP input and internal DP input on Creator motherboard. Installation Notes Used config.plist for 17h at https://github.com/AMD-OSX/AMD_Vanilla/blob/master/17h/config.plist kexts: AppleALC.kext AppleMCEReporterDisabler.kext BT4LEContinuityFixup.kext CoreDisplayFixup.kext Lilu.kext NullCPUPowerManagement.kext SmallTree-Intel-211-AT-PCIe-GBE.kext USBPorts.kext (Custom made for Creator Motherboard) VirtualSMC.kext WhateverGreen.kext During OS installation there was an error saying it couldn’t complete the installation, I had to reboot in recovery and install via network. Summary This is my first attempt at a Hackintosh, and I was thrilled to see the LG monitor run at 5K. I initially thought the 3400G could run the DisplayPort without a video card, but on this board it only outputs via HDMI. (The two DisplayPorts on the Creator motherboard are INPUT only.) Audio being static filled and choppy for system sounds is weird. It even does it if you don’t use the internal sound and use a USB sound device. Used NativeDisplayBrightness to lower brightness on monitor. (Use F1 and F2) If you guessed the CPU is temporary till the 3950X comes out, you guessed right. (The video card I’ll upgrade when the next generation of HDMI 2.1 cards come out.) When you consider that a Titan Ridge Thunderbolt card is about $100, a 10 Gbit NIC is $90, and then you lose two PCI-E slots plugging them in, the Creator motherboard has carved out a sensible niche for itself. What Works Thunderbolt 3 for the monitor. 10G NIC - Aquantia Corp. AQC107 NBase-T/IEEE 802.3bz 1G NIC - Intel Corporation I211 Gigabit Audio works for apps like YouTube but is choppy when playing system alert sounds. The sound device is a Realtek ALC1220 which should be supported. I haven’t sorted that bug out yet. What Doesn’t Work Intel Wi-Fi 6 AX200 802.11ax 2.4 Ghz / Bluetooth 5.0 I ordered a Fenvi T919 as a workaround, which works after making a custom USBPorts.kext. The Intel Bluetooth on the motherboard gets selected for use, but it doesn’t actually work. You have to block it out with the USBPorts.kext and then the Fenvi Bluetooth starts working. Three of the USB ports on the motherboard. If you are going to guess, the ones closer to the motherboard all worked, the higher ones were hit and miss. LG monitor built-in camera and speakers, USB-C hub, possibly due to Thunderbolt 3 drivers not being set up correctly. System alert sounds are choppy and have static. [link] [comments] |
