The alias "Whatever" can’t be opened because the original item can’t be found.

Does anyone else encounter this? It happens when I try to access my external NTFS drive. Sometime during the day it unmounts itself, only working again when I restart the computer. Seems to be a thing, but as I get it so often, I'm in search for a better solution. I can't go on like this.
