Success & Tips for Others - Ryzen 2200G/RX580

Hi All! Reddit n00b here so go easy on me. Got a really stable Ryzen Hackintosh up and running so I thought I'd outline some of the things I learned in case there are others out there in the same boat.

Hardware: Mobo - Asrock AB350 Fatality Gaming mini-itx CPU - AMD Ryzen 2200g Memory - Corsair 4gb 3200mhz x 2 GPU - AMD RX 580 (Sapphire Pulse) 8gb Sound - mobo audio Ethernet - mobo onboard (wifi won't work) HDD - Crucial 1TB SSD

  1. Start with the AMD Hackintosh guide at https://vanilla.amd-osx.com/ (I thought I could start with TonyMac's guide for Intel and that was a silly mistake!)
  2. Once I got my USB boot drive ready and went to install I was getting stuck at the "endrandomseed" message (before seeing the apple logo and loading bar). I tried a bunch of things like removing RAM, etc. but the only thing that helped was changing USB ports... but this only got me passed the endrandomseed message. After the Apple logo & loading bar when I got to disk utilities for install my machine would freeze (if it didn't already freeze on the logo/loading bar). I got around this by realizing that you can add kexts to the USB boot drive... and the kexts you add there are enabled when booting from the USB drive. The instructions on the AMD-OSX guide aren't super clear here. Just remember, if you're running into issues booting up check to make sure you have necessary kexts saved in the right folder on the USB boot drive (EFI > Clover > Kexts > Other). I ended up using the following: FakeSMC, Lilu, NullCPUMgmt, and WhateverGreen (to get install working... more kexts later).
  3. You need internet access (as far as I can tell) to get the OSX installer to go. Do some research online to figure out what kext you need on the boot drive for this. In my case the SmallTreeIntel82576 kext got me going.
  4. In addition to kexts, a lot of the Hackintosh adjustments and tweaks are done to a .plist file... Clover Configurator is really a tool to edit this file without having to go in with a text editor. I ran into issues setting up clover after getting my system installed. The default clover configurator options weren't letting me boot and I kept having to go through the usb drive. That's when it dawned on me that I could copy the .plist file from the boot drive (that was running great) and use it to override the version on my OSX install. I recommend you back up the original just in case Also make sure you copy any kexts that you used in the USB boot drive to the kext location on your OSX install drive.
  5. After you get things going off your OSX install (i.e. you no longer need the USB stick) you can edit the clover start screen (where you choose Operating systems on computer start-up) by going to the GUI tab in the configurator.
  6. Extra drives showing up when you start your machine on the clover landing page (where you choose operating system)? No problem, this can be done in Clover Configurator.
  7. I couldn't start Window from the Clover start screen after I got the Hackintosh installed and running. I had to go into the Configurator and select an option about "fix legacy bios issue".
  8. Additional kexts that I used: AppleALC (for audio) - the kext in the right folder wasn't enough to get audio working though... Mac OS wouldn't recognize the audio hardware. I got around this by following the instructions this redditor posted: https://www.reddit.com/r/hackintosh/comments/4e23w6/guide_native_audio_with_clover_applealckext/

Hope this helps everyone! Happy to provide specifics if you need em :)
