HBO NOW stuck at fairly low (~720p) resolution on Chromium, refuses to play on Safari

I imagine this has something to do with some DRM issue, but I've noticed that whenever I play a video on HBO NOW on my Hackintosh it's seemingly stuck at fairly low resolution while playing on a Chromium based browser - looks like about 720p to my eyes. However, when I reboot to my Windows side things look much better at 1080p.

This issue persists on any Chromium based browser (Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge).

On Safari, the video refuses to play at all.

Does anyone know if there's an easy solution to this? My configuration is as follows:

• macOS High Sierra 10.13.6
• MSI Z87-G45 Gaming
• Intel Core i7 4770k
• 16GB DDR3 RAM
• NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 Ti FE w/ NVIDIA Web Drivers
• Some fairly recent version of Clover
