Is my HP 6300 cursed? EFI seems to randomly change kexts.

So I’ve got an HP6300 with an i5 3570. One of the easiest pre-builts to buy, runs like a rocket when working.

I built it using a TonyMac guide (UEFI HP 8300/6300 guide), but it is a vanilla-ish install. Clover plus kexts in UEFI and L/E. My problem is that it keeps falling over and I’m starting to think it’s cursed.

For a while there I thought it was because I had to keep unplugging it from the wall as I didn’t have an extension cord. Symptoms would be a 90-99% progress bar then freeze. Fix was to reset the kexts folders to match the backups. Rinse and repeat with different kexts and folders.

I finally got another cord and replaced the battery. Failed boot at 90% and it turned out the HFS kexts was missing. Fixed it and it was nice and fast again.

Did a backup, then backed up the EFI folder. Accidentally moved (not copied) it to the backup drive, then copied it back onto the boot disk. Bam. No boot, stuck back at 70% progress bar.

I haven’t checked why yet, but thought I’d post first to see if this has happened to anyone else before - randomly changing kexts in the UEFI folder? Or am I doing something really wrong lol.
