Help Request: Native 4K Resolution not Detected - Mojave Limited to 1440p 60Hz

I'm looking for some help troubleshooting an issue from my recent install. I've connected my machine to a 4K monitor yet I don't have the option to select anything higher than 1440p in system preferences. Additionally, I'm not even convinced that it's running at 1440p just based on how blurry everything looks. I've connected this monitor to my Macbook before with no issues and it looks incredibly sharp. I would like to replicate this.

Hardware:

  • CPU: Intel i3-8100

  • Graphics: Intel UHD Graphics 630

  • RAM: 32GB 3200MHz G Skill

  • Motherboard: Gigabyte Z370N Wifi

  • Monitor: Dell U2718Q

I followed the vanilla install guide from the sidebar and successfully booted Mojave 10.14.6. I haven't tested what all is working because I want to get this resolution thing fixed first.

Here is a link to my EFI as well as screenshots of my system information and what my system display preferences shows: https://drive.google.com/open?id=18hp1dE4ECklLzTLCp9dAe5rHJ2sOYsLO

Things I Have Tried:

  • Changing SMBIOS. Both iMac18,1 and Macmini8,1 haven't worked. I currently have it set to Macmini because it seems to match my config most closely.

  • Using a different cable. I've tried a slew of different cables and they all have the same result. I tried DP to DP, mDP to DP, and HDMI to HDMI all to no avail.

  • Passing -cdfon as a boot option. (following this guide to Lilu https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/an-idiots-guide-to-lilu-and-its-plug-ins.260063/). This had no effect so I have since removed it.

  • The same guide also recommended increasing the iGPU's VRAM using the framebuffer-unifiedmem patch. This did increase my VRAM from 1.5GB to 2GB but didn't fix my resolution issue. I currently have this enabled.

  • I messed around with various BIOS settings but none of them had any effect. I can go into more detail on these if needed.

  • I tried manually enabling "InjectIntel" in the graphics section of my config.plist. This had no effect so I removed it.

General Observations

  • The clover boot menu and verbose printouts are extremely sharp and appear to be in the native 4K resolution or at least a higher resolution than macOS. Once macOS boots and you see the Apple logo it's immediately apparent that the resolution is lower. This makes me think it isn't a BIOS or cable issue and it's something to do with my config or kexts.

  • I don't have a different display to test on. I do have another monitor but it's the exact same 4K Dell model and has the exact same result.

  • I did however notice that my BIOS version is F2 which is from the summer of 2017. Would flashing a newer BIOS help at all? I've seem builds similar to mine that use the F10 BIOS which is much more recent.

  • The vanilla guide said to use VirtualSMC.kext. However when I downloaded the zip for it I also noticed it had SMCProcessor, SuperIO, BatteryManager, and LightSensor. I got rid of BatteryManager and LightSensor because I didn’t think those applied to my desktop. Do these kexts have any effect on graphics?

  • I removed the port limit increase patches for all versions except 10.14.x. The vanilla guide said this was okay so I went ahead and did it to keep my config cleaner. Removing these seemed to have no effect on display settings.

If anyone can offer any advice or ideas for how to fix this I would greatly appreciate it. I'm very new to this and I just can't figure out what I'm doing wrong.
