Catalina Beta on VMWare Workstation running on a Win10 host

Hello. I tried to search for answers to this question in other posts and on the internet, but much of it has not been helpful or have been slightly different situations. Very simply, I have a win10 machine, i9 + 32gb ram, 500 GB NVMe m.2. So plenty of headroom there. I'm running VMware workstation 14, and I have successfully gotten mojave to work just fine.

I'm trying to create a new VM of the current Catalina beta to get ahead and take a look at some new features before rollout. But I cannot get past the issue of the system hanging at the apple logo on boot. A lot of the other posts have been VMware fusion running from within a macos environment to virtualize the catalina release. But i haven't found much on people running VMware workstation in a windows environment, trying to virtualize catalina.

Has anyone done this successfully yet? If so, I'm running into road blocks getting the first reboot, after the install process has begun. So i've put VMware into windows 10 64-bit mode, booted, catalina install comes up, I format the virtual drive to adfs, then install catalina. When the system reboots, EFI can't find a boot location, I change VMware profile back to macos 10.14, then boot up, and the apple logo comes up and hangs there. Any help would be appreciated!
