Apologies if this has been answered a million times but I've searched the sub and can't find a definitive answer. I use a 43 inch 4k TV as my computer monitor and would like to use one of the scaled resolutions to make things nice and big.
I got 4k 60hz working but if I scale things through the System Preferences to make it appear as 1080p or 1440 then my monitor changes from 60hz to 30hz. I can't seem to find a solution to scale it to 1440 but keep it at 60hz. If I use a program like SwitchResX to change the resolution to 2560x1440, the quality is much worse than keeping it at 4k and using OS X's scaling feature.
I am running a 2600x with a GTX 1070. I first tried it in High Sierra but encountered this issue. Then I switched out the GTX1070 for an RX 560 to test. Again, the results were the same. I also tried Mojave with the RX 560 and also tried both the HDMI output and DisplayPort with a DP-HDMI adapter. All result in the same outcome. 4k@60 works, but scaling the resolution in System Preferences reduces it to 30hz.
I'd be very grateful if anyone had any suggestions. Thanks a lot :)
