I've been on my current build for almost 6 years, and things have more or less been going pretty smoothly. I've been on Sierra for a while now, and finally need to upgrade to High Sierra, as Sierra no longer offers CUDA support, which I need for GPU acceleration in several programs (Mojave does not offer CUDA support either). The main reason I've been avoiding upgrading is that I totally screwed up the last time I upgraded my OS, thinking I was a pro and flying through the upgrade process. I missed some crucial step(s) and ended up having to start with a fresh install.
To the best of my memory this involved booting from the recovery HD in some way or another. Anyway, the result is now that Clover configurator shows the following when I go to mount EFI: https://imgur.com/a/Cho3IZH
I'm hoping that the multiple EFIs are behind the fact that I cannot seem to get the upgrade to work. I've followed the instructions here: https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/update-directly-to-macos-high-sierra.232707/
Unfortunately, after the computer reboots, it just hangs on the Apple logo, without even a progress bar. To make things even more annoying, it auto loads the installer every time I boot up, so I have to make sure to select my normal start up disk or I need to restart to get out of the hang.
So anyway, any tips? Do I actually need to do something about the multiple EFIs? Is there something else I should try to get the upgrade to work?
