Hey all, have been using a 6 core 2010 Mac Pro for a long time now. Waited for Apple to tell us what modular meant to them, but I'm not interested in their "starting at 6k" workstation approach to towers anymore. Time to build one! Have done a couple PCs over the years for family, but this will be my first hackintosh.
After reading through some posts/threads on what has worked for others, I put this together and would appreciate feedback: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/ybvkxG
If there's a better approach to wifi/bluetooth I'm all ears, that part was the most confusing to me. Doesn't have to have crazy performance, I'm generally wired for internet and make minimal use of bluetooth, but if something else is better or easier to get working I'd like to know to consider pros/cons.
A little annoyed that AMD doesn't have a recent card that slots between the 7 and 580/590 in terms of price/performance. Considered the vega 64 but thinking I'd prefer something cooler/quieter in general. If nvidia was an option would probably go with a 2070, but based on what I read going with nvidia for a hackintosh setup is inviting pain and frustration, right?
Anyway, great looking community here, faq was useful in getting to understand the process and reading through everyone's experiences and what they got to work was great as well.
