Saved this guy from the scrap bin at work and wanted another machine to play with, so I set it up with Mojave.
Specs:
- Xeon E3-1245v3 @ 3.4GHz
- 16GB DDR3 @ 1600MHz, plan on upgrading to at least 32GB later on
- NVIDIA Quadro K4100M, 4GB GDDR5
- 250GB Samsung Evo 850 SATA SSD
- Azurewave AW-CE123H miniPCIe card (BCM94352HMB)
Working:
- QE/CI/Metal: The Quadro K4100M is a Kepler GK104-based GPU so it works great with the built-in driver in Mojave.
- WLAN/BT: Swapped the included Intel card for the AW-CE123H and although I can't confirm Continuity/Handoff functionality, 2.4GHz and 5GHz WLAN works wonderfully, and I'm able to use AirDrop with my iPad no problem.
- Audio: Works well enough with VoodooHDA. I know it can have problems, especially with microphones, but I've got a USB mic that works excellently in macOS so it's not a pressing issue at this time.
- Ethernet: The Intel I217LM Ethernet chipset works with IntelMausiEthernet no prob.
- ACPI: Sleep/wake work beautifully after injecting USB ports with an SSDT. Only having 2 USB 3.0 ports with the other five being USB 2.0 is a little lame, though.
Not working:
- Thunderbolt 2: Not worried here; I knew it wouldn't work and don't have any Thunderbolt 2 devices anyway.
- Touchscreen: I think I could probably get it working with a little fidgeting since macOS does present me with the Ink option in System Preferences, but I don't need it.
