Hey all,
I'm at a loss for what to do here. I have a Dell Latitude E6440 that I intended to make a Hackintosh out of, but I've had no success in doing so. When I tried with Clover and the generic kexts some time ago, it would always boot to the prohibited sign and get stuck on still waiting for root device (it was a little garbled). When I tried using an EFI folder from a similar model (the E6540, basically the 15" model with few if any changes), it didn't work. When I tried UniBeast (yes, I know it's frowned upon but I was desperate), it boots into the prohibited sign with "still waiting for root device."
I'm wondering if my motherboard is the issue. A few months back, the original motherboard failed so I picked up a cheap $20 mobo off of eBay. However, I got duped and the three USB ports don't work at all due to a short on one of them. Only one USB works, and that's on the side panel that attaches to the motherboard through a connector. Is it possible that these ports are causing an issue?
I don't want to put more money into this laptop since I was considering selling my desktop and picking up a late 2013 rMBP, but if I was able to Hackintosh this I'd be more than happy to replace the motherboard again with an EDP cable mobo (mine has an LVDS) and upgrade the display to a FHD panel.
Let me know what you think. Something I should note is that the Clover installer that refused to boot on the laptop worked just fine on my desktop, which is currently running 10.14.4.
Thank you
