While away at Star Wars Celebration, my Hackintosh decided to do a system update. I had thought I disabled this feature but alas I had not apparently, and I came back home to a bricked machine.
These were the main errors -
IGPU looping for 50 tries and AppleACPICPU stall.
After some extensive Googling I was able to piece together a solution that was not a nuclear option (aka reformatting and reinstalling).
- According to some posts here, 14.4 broke a lot of Hackintoshes but the fix was a Lilu/WhateverGreen/Clover update
- I created a new bootable USB with the new Lilu/WhateverGreen kexts on it.
- Since my install was stalling, I had to go in via UEFI Shell and update the associated kext by command
- UEFI Shell is not like UNIX, so here's a guide: https://www.reddit.com/r/hackintosh/comments/5472ok/you_can_make_permanent_edits_to_configplist_from/
- Then, I had to update the CLOVER64.efi with the new one
NOTE You MUST update the config.plist THROUGH Clover Configurator prior to making this attempt. If you do not do this, none of the kext or boot-args will be loaded into Clover, despite it being updated.
To be on the safe side, once your Hackintosh boots, update the EFI accordingly to make sure that ALL CHANGES have taken effect.
Any questions, feel free to ask me.
