Questions on a Prospective Hackintosh Build.

Hello All,

Looking to build my first hackintosh and a computer after almost 20 years.

Why

I use my 2012 11inch Macbook air (4gb/128gb) to edit video in 1080p for youtube. It is starting to show it's age now. so am looking to build a computer for editing videos and doing my daily internet surfing, along with some GIMP for thumbnails.

What I am looking for from the hackintosh

  1. future proof in terms of MacOs upgrades
  2. video editing in imovie 1080p
  3. thumbnails in GIMP
  4. slot for graphics card on the motherboard, in case i decide to go 4k videos.
  5. usb a ports, as I also flash my Android phones back to factory firmware using fastboot and terminal
  6. i would like a fully working build (audio, wifi, bluetooth etc). Dual monitors might be a possibility in the future, but single monitor for now. iMessage and airdrop are not a necessity as I use Android, but if they can work it would make the wife happy :)
  7. I dont game that much, so no gaming.
  8. 2 m.2 slots on the motherboard in case I need dual boot. 1 might also be fine if that makes the build easy, but 2 is preferred.

Build I have come up with

  1. Processor - i5 8400
  2. Motherboard - gigabyte z370n wifi
  3. ram - 2x8gb
  4. fan - noctua nh-l9i
  5. 256gb m.2 sdd
  6. WiFi/Bluetooth Airport Card: OEM Apple BCM94360CS2
  7. Key A/E Module Adaptor: BCM to NGFF M.2 Socket Adaptor

Not yet decided on case and power supply.

This build is a replica of this one.

Budget

I am planning on buying used and would like to keep it below $500 for the tower.

Already have mouse, keyboard, monitor and some speakers/headphones.

Questions

  1. Does the build meet my needs.
  2. Any changes you peeps would recommend
  3. If i decide to go 4k, which graphics card would you recommend. I know that we need AMD, would a RX580 be good.
  4. Any other motherboard you would recommend? I have seen builds with Asrock z370, asus rog strix z370-i gaming, gigabyte z370 aorus. Looking for best bang for buck and something which works with not many mods. I am up for spending time to fix it, but also dont want something which has knows issues with hackintosh (like some MSI motherboards I read about).

Thanks.
