I've been searching for a good laptop to turn into a hackintosh, and I just can't find anything like my current machine, a 2011 MBP. I'm talking flexible I/O (not only 3 USB ports), big display, modular RAM slots & HDD/SSD bay, good cooling. I want a thick, heavy brick, with a modern CPU & GPU, and solid keyboard & trackpad.
Everything I've seen so far looks flimsy, or has gimmicks like touchscreen trackpads (which won't work with macOS anyway), or huge keys/no palm resting area, and pretty much everything's so thin that I can't imagine it being cooled properly, and of course almost no I/O ports – just smooth, unused surfaces, save for a couple USB ports and a 3.5mm socket.
Money isn't an issue... as long as it's around £2000 (for the base model, not including upgrades). Surely there must be something like that out there, a spiritual successor to the 2011 MBP? (and one which can run macOS well)
I know it's a big ask, if anyone has any pointers, I'd greatly appreciate it!
