Hi there,
after some years of using only my MBP I’m inclined to built a Hackintosh again. Mainly for 1080 and 4K editing with Adobe Premiere CC, After Effects CC and DaVinci Resolve.
Here we go:
• CPU: Intel Core i9-9900K
alternative: Intel Core i7 8700K
• Mainboard: ASUS WS Z390 PRO
alternative: ASUS Z390-A
• Grahic card: EVGA GTX 1080 Ti
alternative: GTX 1080 or 1070
• RAM: 32GB RAM - 2x16GB Ballistix Elite (DDR4, 3200 MT/s, PC4-25600, DRx8, DIMM, 288-Pin)
alternative: Corsair Vengeance LPX (DDR4 3200 MHz C16 XMP 2.0)
• extra PCI-E card: ASUS ThunderboltEX 3
• SSD: two 970 PRO 1TB NVMe M.2
alternative: Samsung 970 EVO 1TB alternative: Crucial MX500 1TB SATA III SSD
• Power adapter: Corsair RM850X
• Cooling: Asus Ryujin 360 Cooler
• Casing: Define R6 Gunmetal USB-C
The questions I’ve been asking myself (and now asking you):
• do these hardware components fit together well and make sense, like not wasting enormous money on one part and creating a bottleneck with another part, making the financial effort on part 1 useless.
• do these hardware components work well and more or less OOTB with macOS?
• what would be the best OS for this setup or should I just go with the latest?
• would it be better to use an AMD graphics card like the RX580 with High Sierra and Mojave?
(the benchmark tests for Windows 10 + Premiere CC and especially DaVinci Resolve definitely say no!)
• is it possible to use one SSD with two partitions (macOS and Windows 10) or would it be better to use seperate drives?
Any help very much appreciated!
Thanks a lot guys!
Cheers!
