After three grueling weeks of installing 10.6.8 on a dell inspiron 1720 laptop i finally have a booting system. BIOS boot 2.4g core 2 duo with 2gb of ram on 150gb ssd. Nvidia 8600m gt 256gb. My system is legacy and is booted with iBoot legacy and multibeast easy which I’m sure I’m stuck with after trying five clover versions (which after failing requiring a fresh install from the beginning)
But sigh though the OS is “updated” it’s still not functional. WiFi works and I have internet but all the root certs are expiring in 2019, and I can’t browse most https websites with Safari, iMessages isn’t available, it’s unsupported OS for all other browsers and that’s just what I’ve tried to download. El Cap seems to be the minimum OS version for internet.
On to my question. Upgrading 10.6.3 to 10.6.8 was such a pita because there are “undocumented” kext changes in 10.6.8 tutorials and guides (Iopcifamily and appleapciplatform) that need to be rolledback to 10.6.6. If I didn’t literally stumble on this tidbit I’d still be pulling hairs
Does El Cap have anything similar?
Thanks!
