Help with first steps in building either HTPC or small case hackintosh i7. It’s been years since I’ve built one what are your builds looking like?

The software part I can follow even though it’s been years. I have an iMac late 2013 I’m getting rid of just because I want an i7 and ssd etc. plus I feel like having fun building. What are some of the parts I can put together what are your builds looking like?
