First Hackintosh, Sleep Works ...Kind Of

So this is my first build and while doing the vanilla install (plus some reading here) everything basically went stellar. My motherboard has everything more or less working out of box. Literally, the ethernet, GPU, IGPU, SATA, etc, etc. Kind of impressive TBH. If you're curious this is what I am rocking for a Hackintosh and it works pretty great (PROVIDED you follow the Vanilla instructions).

Anyway, I've gotten sleep/hibernate/whatever to work pretty much out of box. Except for two nagging things.

  • The monitor will turn off then about 15 seconds later the machine will sleep. Why does it take so damn long? Shouldn't they happen in tandem? This isn't an issue that bothers me necessarily - I'm just curious why it works this way
  • While asleep/hibernate/whatever, the PC will randomly have the fans start up for 1-2 seconds as if it's coming out of sleep/hibernate/whatever but it doesn't actually. The fans spin up for 2 seconds then turn off again. This one kinda concerns me because I'm not sure what the hell is happening here and to be honest, it kinda scared the hell out of me at 2am this morning while I was sleeping.

What I've done:

  • Virtually nothing. Sleep/Hibernate/whatever basically works out of box from a vanilla install. I didn't have to do anything to get it to work. I did delete the power management preferences though because at first it was rebooting when waking. That's literally all I've had to do to get it to work.
