Hey everyone, so it’s been about a year now that I made my own Hackintosh and it’s been flawless for the year. The only issue that is starting to come up is for some reason is whenever I try to do something over Ethernet it just doesn’t allow me to, even when it says “connected”.
Let me also say that, I am not using Ethernet for internet access but as a local network for devices. The first attempt was with a school laptop where I wanted to transfer big files to my hack but it just wasn’t happening it would drop the connection and have tons of issues, even when it said connected. So I abandoned that thinking it was something to do with the IT software they had.
But now, I recently upgrading my mixing console for my music projects and one component of the board is it can control my music software over Ethernet connectivity using midi. Anyways, long story short it says the network is connected and has a yellow status circle by it but the softwares and hardware aren’t communicating.
My question is, is there a known issue for Mac or Hackintosh that makes it hard to do local networks over Ethernet ? I’m on Sierra 10.12.6, should I be updating to high Sierra or Mojave? One big issue for updating is I need it to be super stable like it is now because of my music software and stuff. Does Sierra have any know Ethernet connection issues? Would it be worth it to update? Is it easy to update a Hackintosh ?
I really hope someone can help me out, I’m on Christmas break rn so this is the best time for me to get bigger projects out of the way. Thanks !
